Nissen Family Vineyard Wedding in Hartington, Nebraska | Wedding Film + Videographer Guide
Paige & Jacob’s Wedding at Nissen Family Vineyard
Paige and Jacob’s wedding at Nissen Family Vineyard in Hartington, Nebraska is one of those days that just sticks with you.
It had both sides of what makes a wedding feel real.
A calm, meaningful morning surrounded by family… and a full, high energy celebration later that night.
As a Nebraska wedding videographer, this was one of those days where everything naturally came together. From a vineyard morning just outside Hartington near Bow Valley, to a packed reception at The Old Mill Event Venue in Yankton, South Dakota, every part of the day had its own feel.
Nissen Family Vineyard Wedding Morning in Hartington, Nebraska
Some wedding mornings feel calm.
Others feel emotional.
This one felt like both.
The day started at Nissen Family Vineyard just outside Hartington, Nebraska, near Bow Valley. This wasn’t just a venue for Paige. The property is owned by her uncle, which made the entire morning feel more personal from the start.
Friends and family gathered among the vineyard rows, slowly easing into the day.
The overcast skies early on gave us soft, even light across the property. As the morning went on, the clouds broke and sunlight started to fill the vineyard.
It’s one of those places where everywhere you turn feels worth capturing.
Videographer Tip:
One thing many couples do not think about is capturing the location itself. A professional video team should arrive early enough to film the environment around your wedding day. At places like Nissen Family Vineyard, that means capturing the vineyard rows, the landscape, and even small details like wind moving through the vines.
Those location shots give your film context. Twenty or fifty years from now when you watch your wedding film again, you are not just seeing the ceremony. You are seeing the place where your story happened.
What It’s Like Getting Married at Nissen Family Vineyard
Nissen Family Vineyard in Hartington, Nebraska offers a really balanced wedding setting.
You get:
rows of vines that create clean, natural backdrops
wide open views of farmland and rolling hills
and a ceremony structure that sits slightly tucked away for more private moments
From a filming and photography standpoint, it works well because the light stays consistent and there’s room to move without everything feeling crowded.
It’s a venue that feels personal, especially for couples with family ties to the area.
Bridal Prep with Vineyard Views
Paige and her bridesmaids spent the morning getting ready upstairs at the vineyard.
The second floor space is filled with natural light and overlooks the property, which made it a really strong setup for both photo and video.
The room filled with laughter pretty quickly. A lot of the girls had known each other for years, so nothing felt staged.
Drinks were poured. Jokes were shared. Everyone just enjoyed being there.
We filmed Paige’s interview outside on one of the balconies overlooking the vineyard. You could feel how much the place meant to her.
Videographer Tip:
One thing many couples do not realize is how important audio is in a wedding film. Throughout the morning we record natural ambient sounds from the location. Wind moving through the vines. Laughter from the balcony. Footsteps across the wooden floors. When these sounds are layered into a wedding film, couples are not just watching the moment again. They are transported back to the exact place where it happened.
Groom Prep at Nissen Family Vineyard Tasting Room
While the girls were upstairs, Jacob and the groomsmen were getting ready downstairs in the tasting room.
Large windows wrapped around the space, which made lighting easy and natural.
There was a lot of joking around as everyone helped each other get ready.
We filmed Jacob’s interview outside near the vineyard rows where the sunlight gave a clean, warm background behind him.
One thing we had to stay aware of was making sure Jacob didn’t accidentally see Paige before their first look.
Photo & Video Tip:
For groom prep, make sure everyone is near a well lit location with natural light. Large windows are ideal. The still frames from this film show how much better suits and faces look when the guys are standing near good window light instead of dark rooms or basements.
Coordination is also important during the morning. The groom should never accidentally see the bride before the first look. Our team uses headsets to communicate between filmmakers so we can move people between spaces without ruining that moment.
A First Look at Nissen Family Vineyard
Paige and Jacob chose to do their first look at the vineyard before heading to Yankton.
It took place under the ceremony structure, slightly away from everyone else.
That space gave them a quiet moment before the rest of the day picked up.
When Jacob turned around and saw Paige, you could immediately feel the shift in the day.
These moments always slow everything down in the best way.
From Hartington, Nebraska to Yankton, South Dakota
After finishing photos around the vineyard, there was a little downtime before heading to the ceremony.
At one point, the groomsmen were tossing a football around while waiting.
It felt like a pretty classic Nebraska wedding moment.
Soon after, everyone loaded onto the party bus and made the short drive north to Yankton, South Dakota.
The drive from Nissen Family Vineyard to The Old Mill Event Venue is about thirty minutes, which makes it a really manageable two location wedding day.
Videographer Tip:
When weddings involve multiple locations, having a larger team helps more than people realize.

Party Bus Energy Around Yankton
After the ceremony, the bridal party headed out on a party bus around Yankton.

At one point things got lively enough that an ambulance made a quick appearance.
Thankfully everything was fine, and the party kept going.
