Paige and Jacob’s day had a little of everything: a relaxed morning at Nissen Family Vineyard near Hartington, Nebraska, a quiet first look, and then a celebration at The Old Mill Event Venue in Yankton, South Dakota.
To keep the locations clear: the vineyard was their getting-ready and first-look setting. Their ceremony and reception happened at The Old Mill. Each place brought a different feel, and the people made it all fit together.

The morning started among the vineyard rows near Bow Valley. Family and friends eased into the day while the light changed from overcast skies to sunshine across the property.
We like to make room for those establishing shots: the landscape, the rooms, and the little details of a place. They help a film bring you back to where the day happened, not just show you a sequence of events.

The rows of vines and open views gave this part of the day its own character. There was room for portraits, time with friends, and a first look away from the main group.

Paige got ready upstairs with her bridesmaids. Window light, laughter, and people helping each other made the space feel full without needing us to manufacture anything.

Downstairs in the tasting room, Jacob and the groomsmen had their own morning going. There was plenty of joking around as everyone finished getting ready.
With both groups on the property, communication between our crew mattered. We coordinated movements so the first look could happen as they had planned it, while still covering the moments on both sides.

The first look happened under the vineyard’s ceremony structure before the group headed to Yankton. It gave Paige and Jacob a little space together before the next part of the day.

After photographs at the vineyard, everyone headed north to Yankton. Even with a straightforward route, a two-location day needs more than the driving time written into the schedule.
Allow for getting people onto the bus, loading belongings, parking, and setting up ceremony cameras and sound. Depending on what is happening at the same time, an additional crew member can help cover the transition. We work that out from your actual schedule.

Paige and Jacob were married at The Old Mill Event Venue. The warm interior felt very different from the open vineyard, and live violin and piano added to the atmosphere as people gathered for the ceremony.
Our job was to preserve the words and reactions without pulling attention away from what was happening. The way a ceremony feels in the room matters as much as the way it looks in a film.

Having the ceremony and reception at the same venue kept the later part of the day connected. Once guests arrived, they could settle in and enjoy the celebration.

After the ceremony, the wedding party headed out around Yankton. Music, photo stops, and time together brought a different energy after the quieter moments earlier in the day.

Back at The Old Mill, dinner and toasts gave way to a busy dance floor. The morning had been relaxed; the reception was ready to go.
We love when a film can hold both of those feelings. The quieter parts do not need to compete with the party. Together, they show more of what the day was actually like.
