A family backyard, a downtown celebration, and one big surprise.
Bre and Brandon’s wedding started at a family home in Lincoln and ended with a celebration at Lincoln Station Great Hall. What stood out to me was the family dynamic. This was a place where other weddings in Bre’s family had happened, and now it was their turn.
There was already a lot of meaning in that backyard before anyone arrived with a camera. We wanted their film to hold onto that feeling.
Our team also had a secret to keep: a same-day edit for Brandon, shown at the reception. We were coordinating a full day of video coverage while quietly putting that surprise together. More on that below. First, here is a taste of their day.
Getting Ready at a Family Home in Lincoln, Nebraska
They got ready in different parts of the family home, with familiar surroundings and their people close by. That gave the morning a comfortable, lived-in feel.
For us, it meant moving thoughtfully between the two sides of the day and staying out of the way when a moment did not need direction. A wedding at home does not need to look like a venue wedding to be beautiful. The place itself can already be part of the story.
A little time together before the ceremony.
Bre and Brandon made room for quiet time together before the ceremony. We do not need to share the words from their private vows here for you to understand why that mattered.

Backyard Wedding Ceremony in Lincoln, Nebraska
The backyard ceremony was surrounded by trees and people who knew what this place meant. It was a hot Nebraska day, but there was plenty of warmth in the celebration beyond the weather.
One playful moment had guests checking beneath their chairs to find the rings. It brought everyone into the ceremony and had the whole backyard laughing.
Afterward, there was time for a toast before the celebration moved downtown.
What Time of Day Is Best for an Outdoor Wedding Ceremony?
There is no single best ceremony time for every backyard. The season, the direction you will face, and the shade on the property all make a difference.
Visit the ceremony spot around the time you plan to use it. Talk through heat, guest comfort, lighting, and a rain plan with your team. A beautiful schedule is one that works for the people actually living it, not just the photographs.

Lincoln Station Great Hall gave the evening a different feel from the backyard: a historic downtown setting, a room full of their people, and space to celebrate.
Behind the scenes, part of our team kept filming while the edit came together. We had to move footage, build the story, check the playback, and keep the whole thing a surprise for Brandon.
Then the film played at the reception. Everyone could see pieces of the day they had just lived, including moments they had not been there for. That was a pretty special thing to share while they were all still together.
What goes into a same-day wedding edit?
A same-day edit is a short film made during the wedding day and shown at the reception. It can include moments from that morning, ceremony footage, and material recorded beforehand, depending on the plan.
It needs dedicated editing time, the right crew, and coordination with the venue or DJ for sound and playback. It is not something we quietly add to an already full schedule.
