But before the dance floor filled up, Brook and Derik had a quieter part of the day at Prairie Hope Chapel near O’Neill, Nebraska. A first look by the trees, a ceremony with their people, and time to greet everyone before heading into the celebration.
We were there for video, alongside photographer Jenna Derner. The change from the countryside to a full reception at O’Neill Community Center gave their film plenty of personality.
Getting Ready Around O’Neill, Nebraska
The morning began with getting ready in O’Neill before Brook headed to the chapel to finish. There was time for the small moments of preparation before everyone gathered.

Brook and Derik’s first look happened outside near the trees, with the countryside around them. It gave them time together before the ceremony, while the reactions from their family and wedding party added to the morning.

The chapel’s wood details, tall ceilings, and light from the windows made a beautiful setting for the ceremony. It felt connected to the countryside around it without pulling attention away from the people inside.
After the ceremony, Brook and Derik greeted guests in a receiving line. That time belongs in the schedule too. It is a chance to actually talk with people, and it deserves more than whatever minutes happen to be left over.

Bridal Party Stop at Harte’s Pub in Inman, Nebraska
The wedding party stopped at Harte’s Pub in Inman between the ceremony and reception. The mood shifted into celebration, with time to laugh and enjoy being together.
A stop like this is optional, not another thing you need to add to your day. If you want one, build in travel and gathering time so it stays fun instead of becoming a race to the next event.
Wedding Reception at O’Neill Community Center
O’Neill Community Center was where the evening really got going. Dinner and toasts brought everyone together before the dance floor filled up.
There were big reactions, people catching up, and plenty happening around the room. We want to preserve that wider feeling of a reception, not just point a camera at the couple all night.
For your own plans, confirm the room layout, access times, and included amenities directly with the venue. Then work with your coverage team on when the main events and dancing will happen.
Three planning ideas from this day.
Give guest greetings enough time. A receiving line can be meaningful when it is not rushed.
Include the whole transition. Travel time is only part of moving a group between locations.
Book around what you want to remember. If dancing is a priority, make sure coverage extends far enough into the evening.
