Midtown Event Center Wedding in Norfolk, Nebraska

A Bilingual, Family-Centered Wedding Day at Midtown Event Center in Norfolk, Nebraska

Some wedding days stand out because of how big they are.
Others stay with you because of how meaningful they feel.

Leticia and Saúl’s wedding day at Midtown Event Center in Norfolk, Nebraska is one that managed to be both.

We filmed their wedding last August, and it is still a day that comes up in conversation. It was deeply rooted in family, faith, and culture, and it unfolded in a way that felt intentional from start to finish.

Throughout the day, Saúl described their celebration as a strong Spanish wedding, sometimes jokingly calling it a Mexican wedding. The ceremony flowed mostly in Spanish, with English woven throughout, creating a beautiful blend that reflected both of their families and the life they are building together.

Getting Ready at Midtown Event Center

Leticia began her wedding day getting ready on-site at Midtown Event Center, inside their spacious bridal suite.

The suite sits just outside the ballroom space and is bright, open, and genuinely functional. With plenty of mirrors, strong lighting, and amenities like a sink, fridge, and microwave, it supports a full wedding morning instead of feeling like an afterthought.

This setup came in especially handy later in the evening, when Leticia changed into her second dress during the dance portion of the night. Having everything in one place made that transition easy and stress-free.

Videographer Tip:
When prep, reception, and vendor setup all happen in one building, it allows your photo and video team to work efficiently without rushing. At Midtown Event Center, we were able to set lighting, stage gear, and prep audio early, which helps the entire day run smoother for everyone.

First Looks at Prairie Hope Chapel

While Fox Brush Films offers both photography and videography, for Leticia and Saúl’s wedding we served as the video team only, working alongside their photography team to keep everything flowing naturally.

Two members of our team stayed with Leticia to capture prep moments, interviews, and a first look with her dad. At the same time, I headed toward downtown Norfolk to begin setting up at the ceremony location.

One unique part of this wedding was how we handled couple interviews.

For most of our full-day wedding coverage, we include relaxed, sit-down interviews with the couple. In this case, we filmed Leticia and Saúl’s interviews a few days before the wedding day. This helped ease their wedding-day timeline and gave them space to reflect without time pressure.

This is something we do intentionally, and it adds depth to the final film while protecting the flow of the wedding day.

Videographer Tip:
Pre-wedding interviews are a great option for couples who want a calmer wedding day. Recording them ahead of time gives space for real reflection without pulling time away from family moments.

A Catholic Wedding Ceremony at Sacred Heart Church

The ceremony took place at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Norfolk, Nebraska, a stunning church located in the heart of downtown.

Before guests arrived, we connected with the priest, set up audio, tapped into the church’s sound system, and positioned four cameras to respectfully document the ceremony. While setting up, we crossed paths with the live wedding painter, Natasha (A.K.A. Tash Paints), who was also preparing to capture the day from her perspective.

Much of the ceremony was spoken in Spanish, with English woven throughout. Leticia and Saúl participated in meaningful Catholic traditions, including the exchange of rings, arras (coins), a rosary, and a quiet moment where they walked to the back of the church to present flowers to the statue of the Immaculate Mary.

It was a sacred, emotional union and a beautiful reflection of their faith.

Videographer Tip:
Catholic ceremonies benefit from thoughtful audio planning. We always mic the officiant, tap into the house system, and use multiple cameras so the ceremony is captured respectfully without distraction.

Mariachi Music and the Transition Back to Midtown

Following the ceremony, a mariachi band played outside as guests congratulated the newly married Magañas. It was joyful, loud, and full of life.

From there, guests made a short drive back through downtown Norfolk, where the celebration continued at Midtown Event Center.

Cocktail Hour, Guest Interviews, and the Reception At Midtown Event Center

Midtown Event Center’s ballroom provided the perfect setting for the reception.

Cocktail hour flowed into dinner, followed by heartfelt toasts, traditional Mexican wedding games, and a packed dance floor that stayed full well into the night. Music ranged from banda to pop and country, keeping the energy high.

Toward the end of the evening, we recorded guest interviews.

These moments happen late in the night on purpose. Guests are relaxed, emotions are high, and people are more willing to speak from the heart. These voices help flesh out the final film, because a couple’s story is shaped by far more people and moments than just their own.

Videographer Tip:
Late-night guest interviews often capture the most honest reflections. Friends and family help tell parts of the story the couple may never see firsthand.
