Family Mini Sessions in Northeast Nebraska: Is a Mini Right for You?

A short session can be a good fit when you want a few new photographs together—not an entire afternoon of outfits, locations and family combinations. The question is whether that smaller plan fits your family right now.

At Fox Brush Films, family mini sessions start at $198 on a scheduled mini-session date within about a 45-minute drive of Wausa, Nebraska. Most sessions last 15–30 minutes, depending on the season and the session day. We confirm the length of your appointment before you book.

We normally plan that local starting offer around at least six families booked on the same mini-session day, with a separate appointment for each family. You do not need to photograph together or personally organize the other families. You book an available slot on an announced date. Travel and the overall session plan affect the advertised event price, which we confirm before you book.

Sharing the travel, setup and preparation across a day is what makes minis more affordable than arranging a private trip for one family. The $198 starting offer is not an on-demand session at any date or place you choose. If the announced dates do not work, ask about a custom family session instead.

This guide will help you decide which option to ask for, what to prepare and what to confirm before booking.

What happens during a family mini session?

A mini works best with a short list of priorities. Perhaps you want a photograph of everyone together, a few moments with your child and a new image for the wall. The setting is already chosen, so the session can focus on your people.

Your professional photographer guides your family through a series of photographs so you can spend your appointment taking pictures rather than figuring out what to do next. If one photograph matters most, tell us before we begin.

Your mini session includes 15 finished photographs that you choose, with full-resolution digital downloads. We generally present around 20–40 images in your Pic-Time gallery, depending on the session. You see the available photographs before choosing your favorites; we do not make that final choice for you.

We have families and young children ourselves. We know that attention spans, timing and getting everyone comfortable matter. We get to know your family, help with direction and keep the session moving without expecting children to arrive knowing how to pose.

  • A mini may fit: one smaller family, one setting, comfortable clothes and a few clear priorities.
  • Ask about more time: grandparents and several households, outfit changes, multiple locations, or a family that needs a slower pace and breaks.

Mini session or custom family session?

The difference is flexibility. A mini is a short appointment within a planned session day. A custom session gives us more room to discuss the group, location, timing and photographs you want.

If everyone is coming home for a holiday and you want grandparents with every branch of the family, say that at the start. Those combinations take time to arrange. A custom session is usually a better choice than trying to fit the whole list into a mini.

The same is true if a child needs time to become comfortable with someone new. A short session is not automatically easier for every child. Tell us what would help your family, and we can talk through the options without making you guess.

How many people can join?

Our usual mini-session limit is six people. A smaller group leaves time for different combinations and nearby backgrounds. If you would like to bring more than six, talk with us before booking: a larger group takes more time to arrange, and we cannot promise the usual 15 finished photographs. We will confirm the group size and image allowance in your agreement.

Grandparents and extended family are welcome to be part of the conversation, but several households or a long list of combinations may need a custom session. Pets depend on the location’s rules. Please ask before bringing one; a park, fairground or pumpkin patch may have its own restrictions.

Fall family photos at Poppy’s Pumpkin Patch in Norfolk

The autumn photographs in this guide come from real Fox Brush Films mini sessions at Poppy’s Pumpkin Patch in Norfolk, Nebraska. A portrait together, a walk hand in hand, a baby on dad’s shoulders and a close-up of tiny fingers show different parts of a family session. Not every photograph needs everyone looking at the camera.

These are examples from past sessions, not an announcement of another session day at Poppy’s. Any future date, location permission, admission or location fee will need to be confirmed before booking. Autumn color and weather also vary; we cannot promise that a future session will look exactly like a previous one.

How to prepare without making it a big production

Choose the photograph you most want.

Think about where it will go. A framed family portrait, a holiday card and a close-up of your baby may need different framing. Share your main priority, then leave room for the moments that happen between the more directed photographs.

Keep clothes comfortable.

Matching outfits are optional. Wear something that feels like your family and suits the weather. Check how it feels while sitting, walking and holding a child—not only standing in a mirror. We may photograph you sitting or lying on the ground, so avoid clothes that cannot comfortably move or get a little dirty. For fall sessions, bring layers and practical shoes.

You can bring a small prop that means something to your family. We sometimes bring props to suit a session setup, but that varies by date and location. Ask us what is planned rather than packing everything just in case.

Plan the arrival, not just the appointment.

Please arrive before your scheduled start time. Allow time for parking, finding the meeting spot and getting children out of the car. Arriving late reduces your photography time; your session still ends at its original scheduled time. We cannot extend into the next family’s appointment.

Tell us what helps your child.

You do not need to promise that everyone will smile on command. Share names, ages, any access needs and a few things your child enjoys. A familiar comfort item can be worth bringing; we can decide together whether it belongs in a photograph or stays nearby.

What does the starting price include?

The $198 starting price includes a guided mini session and 15 client-selected, full-resolution digital photographs for a group of up to six people. It applies to an available appointment on a coordinated local session day, normally with at least six families involved. Most appointments are 15–30 minutes; the advertised date confirms the exact length.

Travel is considered when we set an announced mini-session price. Before booking, we confirm the date, location, appointment length and final total, including applicable sales tax and any separate admission or location fees. Custom sessions and different travel arrangements receive their own quote.

You choose your favorite 15

Once your Pic-Time gallery is ready, look through the available selection and choose your favorite 15. A typical gallery contains about 20–40 images, but the number varies. Different expressions, family combinations and small details give you options.

If you would love more than 15—or the full available gallery—you can purchase additional photographs. Extras are optional, and you can decide after seeing the images. Ask us about upgrade pricing and gallery access before booking; the included downloads are yours to save in full resolution.

The small details can belong in your family gallery, too.

When will you see your photographs?

We aim to have your finished gallery ready to view within seven business days after your session. That is our delivery target, not a promise of same-day photographs. If you need images for holiday cards or a gift deadline, tell us before booking so we can confirm the timing.

Share your gallery and order prints from your phone

We deliver through Pic-Time, our online gallery platform. Once your gallery is ready, you can share it with family and friends right away. You can also choose and purchase prints directly from the gallery on your phone and have them shipped to you—there is no need to take the files to a separate print shop.

Printed products are optional purchases, separate from the session price. Print production and shipping take additional time; the seven-business-day target refers to viewing your online gallery, not receiving prints.

What happens with rain, illness or a change of plans?

For one of our recent fall mini-session days, cold weather and rain meant changing the date. We checked with the families and coordinated an alternative everyone could agree to. That shared schedule matters: a mini-session day is planned around several families, not just one appointment.

  • Weather rescheduling: we coordinate an alternative date with the booked families. If you cannot attend the new weather date, we offer credit toward the next mini-session date rather than a cash refund.
  • Customer cancellation or illness: mini-session bookings are nonrefundable under the booking terms. Travel, preparation and the day’s appointments have already been planned around the group.
  • Late arrival: the original end time still applies. Arrive early so your allocated time can be spent taking photographs.

Please read the agreement before reserving a time and ask about anything that affects your family’s plans. The weather-credit arrangement is not a promise of a refund or a credit for every type of cancellation.

Planning around Norfolk or elsewhere in the region?

Our home base is Wausa, and the fall examples here were photographed in Norfolk. Check the location and available appointment times for each announced mini-session day. For a different date or somewhere outside the local mini-session area, ask about a custom family session and travel before making plans.
